A feed is a format that websites use to provide people with content that is updated regularly. Content can be in the form of text, audio, or video. Users can subscribe to a feed and have regular content updates delivered automatically.
To subscribe, simply click the orange RSS icon located on the blog. Your browser will then display a page where you can choose how you wish to have the blog content delivered to you.
Content can be delivered by a variety of aggregators, often called news readers or feed readers. Instead of constantly checking websites for updates in their content, the feed reader will deliver updates to you when they become available.
There are two basic types of feed readers. The first type of reader is web-based and uses a web browser to display information and the second is a self-contained program that resides on your computer and allows you to access feeds offline. Many of the feed readers are free, so try a few different ones until you find one that you like.
Popular feed readers include Bloglines, FeedDemon, Google Desktop, My Yahoo, and NewsGator.
