Have you started thinking about Thanksgiving yet? If you’re the one in charge of planning the meal and gathering your family, you probably have. No matter how many times you’ve hosted Thanksgiving, it can still be a stressful experience. We’ve gathered five mobile apps that can make your holiday planning a little easier. All five are completely free and appropriate for all audiences.

Epicurious

EpicuriousOne of the best recipe apps around.  You’ll have access to Epicurious.com’s database of over 100,000 recipes, including recipes for holiday favorites like turkey, stuffing, and more.  You can save favorite recipes for quick access when it’s time to start cooking and create shopping lists so you don’t forget anything at the store.

ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner

ShopSavvy Barcode ScannerThanksgiving dinner is the biggest meal most of us prepare all year, and grocery costs can add up. The ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner lets you use your phone’s camera to read product barcodes. This lets you compare prices to see if you can get a better deal at another nearby store or online.

Chow Thanksgiving Dinner Coach

Chow Dinner CoachIf you’ve never prepared a Thanksgiving dinner on your own, you’ll find Chow Thanksgiving Dinner Coach especially useful. It guides you through the process of preparing nine of the most common Thanksgiving recipes. In addition to providing shopping lists and recipes, this app also includes a meal preparation timeline, so you’ll know exactly when it’s time to start defrosting your turkey.

Unlike the other apps listed here, Chow Thanksgiving Dinner Coach is available only for iPhone. If you don’t have an iPhone, you can access a web version of these recipes and timeline here.

Butterball Mobile

ButterballNot technically an app, but still one of the most useful Thankgsgiving prep tools you can access from your phone. The mobile version of Butterball.com includes cooking tips and recipes, as well as calculators that let you figure out what size turkey you need and how long you should defrost and cook it. Plus, every page includes a link to Butterball’s toll-free “Turkey Talk-Line,”  which you can call for free advice on cooking your turkey.
