New Windows Live Messenger Tutorial Just Released

Windows Live Messenger is the newest addition to our Windows Live subject. This popular chat service from Microsoft, allows users to instant message, video chat and share files between friends and groups.

Our tutorial focuses on the desktop version of Messenger for PCs, but there are also online, mobile and Mac versions of Messenger that are similar. In this topic, you will learn how to:

  • Set up Messenger on your computer
  • Add and organize your Friends (contacts)
  • Instant message individuals and groups
  • Use the video chat and share files features

Messenger is part of the Windows Live suite of products for online communication and productivity. When you sign up for Messenger, you are actually signing up for a Windows Live account that can include other services like Hotmail and Office Web Apps. This can be confusing for users, so if you need help, visit our Windows Live Account tutorial to learn more.

This year, we decided that more tutorials were needed on these types of services and apps, since this type of online communication is becoming more common. You can also check out lessons on Facebook Chat and Skype Instant Messaging.

If you are brand new to chat, then you may want to take our Beyond Email tutorial first. Otherwise, you can go directly to Windows Live Messenger to start learning.
