Keeping Up With Facebook – New Lessons and Videos
The good news is we have finally completed updating our popular Facebook 101 tutorial this summer. We have added new lessons, interactives and accompanying videos covering all of Facebook’s new features like Groups, Video Calling and Facial Recognition. Yay!
The bad news is we will likely have to do all of this again very soon. Sigh! Facebook, Facebook…they love to change. Keeping up with them certainly makes our job interesting at times. This is the challenge of creating tutorials on social media services. Sometimes they change the entire interface the day after you finish working on them.
Of course, we don’t always respond to these changes. For example, Facebook has changed the labels “Privacy Settings” to “Privacy Preferences” and “Friends Only” to “Friends.” These are not changes that we feel will confuse the learner, so we let them go for now.
However, there are other times when they have major changes or add new features. We have actually set up a new unit called Facebook Changes and New Features, so that we can quickly add a lesson for learners without having to overhaul our current content.
If you have taken our Facebook 101 tutorial in the past, make sure you check back every so often to learn about what’s new, especially in regards to privacy.
Also, keep in mind, you are a great source for letting us know if a tutorial is wrong or out-of-date. Contact us at http://www.gcflearnfree.org/support if you see something that needs updating.
For now, enjoy our new Facebook 101 tutorial while it’s fresh off the presses!
