New Skype Tutorial Now Available

We are continuing to add to our Social Media tutorials with a new topic on Skype. Skype is a popular, web-based service that allows you to make voice and video calls to fellow Skype users on the internet for free. You can even get a phone number and make calls to phones around the world for a fairly affordable rate.

Some people use Skype to see and talk to family who live far away, or for group study sessions, or for holding conference calls at work. Others use Skype as a cheap alternative to their cell phones and land phone lines. You can also instant message and share files and your computer screen with other Skype users.

All these great services make Skype pretty cool, but they can also be a bit overwhelming for a first-time user. That’s why we thought a Skype tutorial would be so beneficial to our learners. In our topic, you will learn how to:

  • Set up your computer for calls and video
  • Download and install the Skype software
  • Make Skype-to-Skype calls, Skype-to-phone calls, video calls and groups calls
  • Use Skype to instant message, share your screen and send files

We also offer good communication and safety tips throughout the tutorial, so you don’t have to worry about awkward interactions, exposing your identity or getting requests from strangers while using Skype.

To see how Skype works, check out the video below. Then go to our Skype tutorial to start learning.
