The People Behind GCFLearnFree.org
I sometimes forget that you really don’t know much about the people that work at GCFLearnFree.org. We’ve had conversations with you through Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and here on our blog. You’ve told us about your life and how GCFLearnFree.org has made a difference. But we’ve never really told you much about us.
I wonder what you imagine our office space looks like. Do you even know where we are located? Did you think it looked like this?
I’m the newest staff member on the team, having come on in February 2011. After having worked for other non-profits, I was used to hand-me-down computers that didn’t work, chipped and broken office equipment, and mostly solitary employment with few interactions with co-workers. Coming to work everyday in an open environment like this fosters innovation and creativity. Encouraged to collaborate and discuss the latest technology and education trends, we’re poised to be proactive to most learner needs.
Although I’ve been here for almost five months, I continue to be amazed by the level of talent present here. I can’t speak for everyone but I think the general consensus is that we all enjoy our jobs. We’re passionate about working for an organization that has a positive impact on the world while allowing us to be creative and have fun, too.
In the coming weeks I’d like to introduce you to the staff of GCFLearnFree.org. You may be surprised by how few of us there are (17 including the part time instructors for online classes), and you will definitely be amazed by the variety of backgrounds and interests of our designers, screencasters, writers, programmers, videographers and more.
So be sure to check back often and get to know the people behind GCFLearnFree.org. We certainly want to get to know you!

Midland Need to Read is a non-profit based out of Midland, TX that strives to improve the lives and productivity of adults through literacy. Thanks for all that you do! :0)
