1,000,000 Members and Growing!

By matt 19 January 2010 16 Comments

We want to thank everyone who has joined GCFLearnFree.org! At 2:00 PM EST on  January 19, 2010 we celebrated an important milestone by welcoming the millionth member to our site.

Since its beginnings in 2000, GCFLearnFree.org has been dedicated to providing quality, free, online learning opportunities to learners around the world. Over our history, we have offered a wide range of tutorials on basic math, money, career and computer training.  We have Online Classes where learners can have access to an instructor and can earn CEUs.  In addition, we have implemented innovative programs like the Everyday Life project that allows people to practice real life skills in interactive simulations.

What’s New

We have updated our entire Work and Career section with six new topics, added a Facebook tutorial and launched our Windows 7 tutorial with the OS release last October. Look for the new video tab on select topics that allows you to access videos directly and even rate them! Visit our blog for news, information, helpful articles and mini-tutorials that provide yet another way for our visitors to learn with us. Come back frequently or subscribe to our rss feed to be sure you don’t miss anything!

Fans of YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook - can subscribe to our YouTube! Channel, follow us on Twitter, and become a fan on our Facebook page.

Coming in 2010

Look for more new learning content than ever before! We will be revising our Internet and Email topics, adding a Twitter tutorial, updating Computer Basics, and adding Microsoft Office 10 when it launches. Stay tuned for our new Reading project which launches in April and will provide an unique interactive program for adult learners to build their English Literacy or ESL skills.

Help us reach 2,000,000

Our next goal is two million members - Tell all your friends about us, add a link on your site or distribute our flyers to help us get there.

Our sincere thank you to everyone who helped us reach our first million!

–The GCFLearnFree.org Team

Please be advised that your 1000000 member banner is directly over the dialog box for my password blocking access. Each time I attempt, the info page opens.

iam glad to have joined this service. God bless all

pppractice - we will look into that. What browser are you using? It is likely a formatting issue.

While we look into it - you can always click the “Sign In” button in the upper right of the home page to sign in.

hey i just opened account yesterday, and i chose word 2007. but it says wait 58 min and then i waited till 1 min then all of sudden it is 1 hour again. how does it possible??? please help?

  • matt (author) said:

Chimeg - we have been overwhelmed by the popularity of our classes. Although we currently have hundreds of learners enrolled in classes - many, many more are trying to register. In many cases, the available slots are gone in seconds after registration opens. We are working hard to address this unprecedented demand, and hope to have more slots available in the near future.

Currently, we check for open slots every hour - if no slots are open when we check, we start the countdown over again.

keep in mind that we have 100s of videos and tutorials on the site that are available with no waiting.

Tinayin - our current Math tutorials cover the basics. We are planning to add more content later this year. Hopefully, we will be able to expand decimals and percents, and add geometry and basic algebra.

As ‘pppractice’ mentioned earlier, I’ve experienced the same problem, but since found two other ways to log in. BTW, I am using Vista and IE8 on this ‘puter. (If that’s any help!) 8-)

Thanks for the additional information - we have not been able to duplicate that effect, but we will see what we can do. It should always be possible to click the “Sign In” link in the upper right of the screen - while we work on a solution.
