When you hear or see the word Inbox most of us probably think about emails we’ve received.  In Facebook your Inbox has all of your incoming mail but it also serves as a landing page for incoming Notifications and Updates.

The Inbox tab lists all of your received emails. The Sent tab lists all of the emails you sent to people. The Notifications tab lists all of your  Notifications. For example, any time someone sends you a drink or challenges you to a quiz or game, the Notification will show up here.

Notifications are  items sent by an application to a user’s page in response to user activity within an application. If you’re a Facebook User, you’re use to seeing your Notifications on your Wall or in your News Feed. But there is a central location where you can keep up with all of them.  From the Facebook toolbar at the top of the page, click Inbox. There are four tabs here.

The Updates tab lists recent and updated activities from Pages you are a fan of or Groups that you belong to. If you are a Facebook fan of your local TV News Station then you can go to the Updates tab to see if they have sent out any new updates via Facebook.
