There are some great Privacy options in Facebook . Some of these options let you determine how much of your profile your Friends can see. Have you ever wondered what your Friends see when they look at your profile? You can take a look at your profile through your Friend’s eyes. Here’s what you do.
- Go to Settings on the main toolbar at the top.
- Select Privacy Settings from the menu.
- Under Privacy you will see a few options. Click the first one, Profile.
- There are two tabs on this next page; a Basic tab and a Contact Information tab. Make sure the Basic tab is selected and look for See how a friend sees your profile:.
- Type a Friend’s name in this box. As you type Facebook will start displaying your Friend’s names. Select a name and wait.
- Facebook will automatically load your Friend’s view so you can see what they see!
This feature is very useful after you set Privacy options. For example, if you block a certain Friend from seeingĀ your photo albums, you want to make sure they really can’t view your albums. You can use this feature to verify exactly what they can and can not see. Check it out for yourself, it’s a pretty cool feature!

Thanks for the extension to the tutorial. BTW – you did a great job explaining facebook. Now how about pbwiki or blogspot or digg…
Thank you! Do you currently use PBWORKS, formerly PBWIKI?
This will help me connect!
Love this tip! I’m planning a super secret baby shower & want to use fb events to let all my friends (except the mommy-to-be) know. Now I can be sure that I’ve blocked her from the event. THANKS!!!
I just found out one more thing I would have never found out on my about Facebook, thank you.
