5 Things I Like About Facebook!

Like many other people I know, I’m a huge fan of Facebook. I check it on a daily basis and I even have my mobile phone set up to alert me when I receive messages on Facebook. Part of my love for Facebook is keeping up with what my friends are thinking about and doing. It’s great to see pictures of childhood friends that have moved away and now are only a key stroke away. It’s even more amazing when you find someone you’ve been looking for and you find out they only live a few blocks away! There are several reasons why I’m such a fan of this social networking site but I’ll give you my Top 5.

1. Status Update- This is what gets people talking on your page. Your status appears at the top of your Facebook profile and you simply fill in the blank space that asks “What are you doing right now?” For example, on Fridays I usually post what I plan to do over  the weekend. Many of my friends respond to this with their plans for the weekend and sometimes we make plans to meet up this way.

2. Privacy Features- You can set just about anything to private status on your profile. Recently I found a stack of old childhood photos of my friends. I didn’t want to post some of the embarrassing photos for everyone to see so I made a hidden album by choosing who was allowed to view the album. This album only shows up to those that I picked.

3. Ignore- Just because someone has been looking for you and wants to add you as a friend doesn’t mean they are actually your friend! Facebook did a smart thing by giving you the option to pick and choose who your Friends are. You have the option to ignore requests from people you may not know or those you don’t consider a friend.

4. Profile Layout- The fact that I can’t add a colorful, funky, blinged-out, profile doesn’t bother me a bit! In fact it’s the very reason I have a Facebook page and not a page on one of those other social networking sites. The simple layout Facebook provides makes it easy to read and navigate through profiles without all the glitter and bling!

5. Facebook Mobile- If you don’t want to miss all the action on Facebook while you’re away from your computer,  activate Facebook Mobile. This feature allows you to update your status, send and receive messages, upload pictures and videos, and keep a pulse on what’s going on right from your phone.

  4. FaceBook seems to be saving my life. I felt like I had no life and no friends since my job was discontinued and my back hurt too much and I was too old to do that physical of work, anymore. On FaceBook I’ve reconnected and gotten some hope. I may even start a business to meet some of my son’s friends needs (I discovered on a game, no less, that I like caring for others’ pets when they’re busy working and I’m bored to tears). It may be a long shot, but hope for the future is a life saver. The networking can be endless, even for someone like me, who can’t make friends.

  5. Great! Facebook is a great tool for connecting with people. A good way to find people that share your interest is to create or join a group. Good luck starting your business! You can always use Facebook to promote it!

Information request: Does GCF offer any LIVE
classes? I’m in NYC and am retired and a expert
in speed reading, speed memory and stressBusting
training. I would like to teach a Free one-day
    seminar.

Benefits: Triple your reading skills, double your
long term memory, discover how to avoid stress.

How would I get GCF to organize a live one-day
four-hour seminar in NYC free. My organization
collected a $299 tuition per student for our one day program.

It would really help those seeking employment to
have a competitive advantage of being a killer

  10. I used to have dial-up but since getting ADSL, logging onto Facebook has become a dream. Needless to say I am still fumbling around in the dark and now with this tutorial I hope that I will become more proficient. What is so great about Facebook is the ability to be constantly in contact with one’s family and friends. So many of them have emigrated overseas, and as few of them are prolific letter-writers,Facebook enables us to stay in touch.

  11. I have recently joined Facebook. I have found many people from many years ago. I have really enjoyed this experience.

  12. Great job thank you very much. Will definitely become your fan on facebook.

  13. I love Facebook mobile! It is as flexible as the original and is easy to maneuver as long as you have a fairly modern phone. I use it day and night for both business and personal reasons. Thank you Facebook.
